"Move Along"
A song about the adversity one faces when making a decision to leave a situation that is not good for them. It touches on elements of grief and hope for a better life, while recognizing that it will not happen over night, and sometimes you might need a little help.
"Chicken Wire (Does Anyone Care?)"
A song about sin and redemption. The narrator, who reflects upon his past, is bogged down by a strong sense of guilt. Rather than face up to his faults, he creates stories to retrospectively excuse his misdeeds. He clings to the hope that his personal weakness will absolve him of all culpability - but he knows better. His weakness proclaims a profound need for humility and personal ownership. We are reminded in the chorus that love, which is the only true remedy, is found in the willingness to enter into the heart of another.
"Ponies"
A song about opportunity, fear, and impatience. A young man named Jesse struggles with his own mortality and restlessness. In an effort to capture what he desires, he holds on too tight for too long, leaving him breathless, scared, lonely, and empty-handed. But there is hope, and the song reminds us of it repeatedly in the chorus. Perhaps it is worth considering the notion that, "it's gonna take some time to get things right."
